![]() The Qingming Festival in China is s holiday to honor and respect the dead. The festival is also called Tomb Sweeping Day. It is a time to spend with the family and visit the graves. Many people will travel during this time with family members to sweep, clean, burn money, and bring food to the graves. After this activity the family will travel together and or will visit family members to drink and eat. My mother in-law for the past several weeks has been making fake paper money decorations to burn for her deceased family members. Most Chinese holidays revolve around family and respecting the family. It is a great time to visit China if you have family members in China but NOT for the foreign traveler because it gets crazy busy at tourist sights and transportation is difficult and crowded. Just look at the photo from this article and you can see the SEA of people everywhere. My goal 1 day is to spend a year in China to experience all the holidays and travel around the country exploring all the food and regional culture. Until then Travel Safe and Travel Smart. http://www.shanghaidaily.com/metro/society/A-grand-day-out/shdaily.shtml
