This article reviews the method for the cost of flight prices but everyone pays a different price. I agree with the article that a new pricing system must be developed. I am crazy about traveling to China and check prices daily. We have already bought our tickets to China this fall and I continue to check prices daily just to monitor the price. I think the search engines tagged my computer because before I bought my tickets the prices changed daily which pushed me to buy the tickets before they increased too much. Then after purchasing my tickets the prices now do not change. It is crazy how the prices change without any logic to the customer. When we bought our tickets several years ago to bring my in-laws back to China we had to purchase separate airline tickets. They stayed with us in Vegas for 1 year so we had to purchase one-way tickets and in China it was easy. We then had to purchase for their return to China and we had to book them though China Eastern Airlines while we took American Airlines. Our round trip tickets were less than China Eastern Airlines but China Eastern was less for one-way ticket. Our round trip tickets through American Airlines were $1000 dollars and we tried to book one-way tickets and the cost was $2000 dollars. This is crazy and did not make sense to me and I thought it was an error. So I called directly and the agent stated it was correct the one-way was double the cost of the round trip. This is a major marketing error with American Airlines because so many customers from China require one-way tickets and if this is the cost difference then they are missing out on a major market.
